JumboChat is free, asks nothing of you, and translates by machine. That last word is the one that matters: section three explains where a machine translation should never be the only thing standing between you and a decision.
JumboChat is published by Deep Fried Mobile Inc. ("we", "us"). Downloading or using the app, or using this website, means you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, don't use it — and delete it, which removes everything it holds.
We grant you a free, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use JumboChat on devices you own or control, for your own communication.
You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app, remove its branding, or attempt to decompile or reverse-engineer it except where the law expressly allows it. We keep all rights we haven't granted here.
This is the part to read properly. JumboChat translates automatically, on your device. Automatic translation misreads idiom, tone, negation, names, numbers, dosages and dialect. It can produce a sentence that is fluent, confident, and wrong.
Do not rely on JumboChat alone where being misunderstood carries real consequences — medical symptoms or treatment, medication and dosage, allergies, legal or immigration matters, contracts, financial commitments, emergencies, or safety instructions. In those situations use a qualified human interpreter, and treat the app as a bridge to one rather than a substitute for one.
We do not warrant that any translation is accurate, complete or fit for a particular purpose, and we are not responsible for what follows from acting on one.
A supported device with room for the language models it downloads. The first use of a language needs a connection to fetch its pack; after that, translation works offline.
Speaking into the app needs microphone and speech-recognition permission. Declining is fine — typed translation works without either — but the hold-to-speak buttons will not.
Translation uses Google ML Kit on-device models. Speech recognition and spoken playback use the services built into your phone, from Apple or Google. Those components behave according to their own terms and their own privacy policies, which are outside our control and outside these terms.
What each one does with your words is set out in the privacy policy.
Use JumboChat to understand and be understood. Don't use it to harass, deceive or harm anyone, or for anything unlawful where you are.
Recording or transcribing another person's speech is regulated in many places and can require their knowledge or consent. JumboChat is designed to be used openly, in front of the person you're speaking with. Whether you may capture someone's voice is your responsibility to know, not ours.
We claim nothing over what you say, type or translate. We never receive it: the app has no backend of ours, and the conversation is held on your device only.
We may update, change or stop the app, and app stores control how updates reach you. We may also change these terms; the date at the top shows when the wording last moved, and continuing to use the app means accepting the current version.
JumboChat is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in every language, on every device, or in every country.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app — including loss arising from an inaccurate translation, or from a decision made on the strength of one.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
These terms are between you and us, not between you and Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for JumboChat and is not responsible for the app or for any claim about it, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual-property claims.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use is also subject to the App Store Terms of Service.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and any dispute is subject to the courts of British Columbia. This does not remove consumer rights your own country's law says cannot be signed away.
